In the wake of the leaked tape of Donald Trump bragging about sexual assault, women have been sharing stories of their own sexual assaults. On Friday, writer Kelly Oxford asked women to tweet their stories at her and received thousands and thousands of responses, with more still coming in:

On Sunday, actress Amber Tamblyn joined the already-overwhelming chorus of replies with her own story, which she posted on Instagram along with a photo of Donald Trump kissing the cheek of less-than-thrilled 2012 Miss Universe Olivia Culpo. (Culpo stepped down as a judge in the 2015 Miss USA pageant after Trump called Mexican immigrants rapists in his presidential announcement speech.)

Tamblyn, who has been married to actor David Cross since 2012, wrote that she decided to share her story “with the love and support of my husband.” Her attacker was an ex-boyfriend; Tamblyn described their relationship as “emotionally and physically abusive.”  On seeing her at a Hollywood club after their breakup, Tamblyn’s attacker picked her up, with one hand under her skirt and his other grabbing her hair, and carried her through the crowd and out of the club as she “screamed and kicked and cried.” He was stopped by his brothers before doing anything worse, but Tamblyn suffered bruises to “that part of my body, which the current Presidential Nominee of the United States Donald Trump recently described as something he’d like to grab.”  For at least a week, she was unable to wear jeans or sleep without a pillow between her legs. Tamblyn, the daughter of actor Russ Tamblyn and musician and singer Bonnie Murray Tamblyn, closed her story with a heartbreaking account of her reluctance to come forward and an explanation of why she felt it was important.

To this day I remember that moment. I remember the shame. I am afraid my mom will read this post. I’m even more afraid that my father could ever know this story. That it would break his heart. I couldn’t take that. But you understand, don’t you? I needed to tell a story. Enjoy the debates tonight.

Donald Trump, who received more than 14 million votes in the Republican primaries, will debate Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton at Washington University in St. Louis Sunday night.
