The Trailer for Black Mirror Season 3 Is Creepy, Funny, and Absorbing

The anthology drama Black Mirror—perhaps “the only show on TV that truly understands how we use technology,” as Slate’s Matthew Dessem wrote—is coming back for a third season on Netflix. At six episodes, the upcoming installment is set to, once more, present some frighteningly (and/or satirically) compelling scenarios, tackling everything from social media addiction to the horrors of hacking to the morality behind drone warfare.

Now under Netflix’s production umbrella, the series also includes an expanded creative team. Parks and Recreation’s Rashida Jones and Michael Schur co-wrote the Season 3 premiere, “Nosedive,” while actors Bryce Dallas Howard, Cherry Jones, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, and more are all on board for key episodic roles. Of course, the primary concern here is whether Black Mirror can live up to its brief but brilliant previous seasons. Fortunately, this absorbing trailer indicates that fans probably don’t have much to worry about.

Black Mirror Season 3 launches Oct. 21 on Netflix.
