Portlandia Gives the Men’s Rights Movement Its Own Fight Song With the Rock Anthem “What About Men?”

The feminist bookstore where Portlandia usually films its wonderfully bizarre Women and Women First segments has severed ties with the show, but it looks like Portlandia is already finding sneaky ways to get around that. A clip from the upcoming season starts like any other Women and Women First segment, with a shot of the bookstore’s exterior—before cutting away to two men riding past on bicycles. Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein, who usually play feminists Candace and Toni, instead play Drew and Andy, two white men living in the world of feminism and Black Lives Matter and just wishing they could have a movement of their very own.

The men’s rights movement doesn’t get a whole lot of respect for some reason, but that’s all about to change, because it turns out what those activists really needed all along was a rock anthem. Portlandia delivers with the worthy “What About Men?”, summing up the injustice of all-female reboots and the thought that the next president might not even be a man. Scary stuff—but still so very, very catchy.
