Kanye West’s set at the Meadows Music and Arts Festival in Queens, New York, came to an abrupt end when the rapper received word that his wife, Kim Kardashian West, had been held up at gunpoint in Paris, CNN reports. A representative for Kardashian West told CNN her assailants were “two armed masked men dressed as police officers” and described her as “badly shaken but physically unharmed.” She was in Paris to attend Fashion Week.

Kanye West was informed of the situation by a man who ran onstage during his set. “I’m sorry, this is a family emergency, I have to stop the show,” Kanye told the audience before leaving in the middle of a performance of “Heartless”:

Festival officials confirmed on Twitter that West would not be returning, urging attendees to “please get home safely.”

The audience leaves the Meadows festival after Kanye West ended his set early.
