The First Trailer for PBS’s Hamilton Doc Is Here at Last

There’s a little show that has been quietly changing the way we think about Broadway over the past year or so—you may even have heard of it. Written by the guy from In the Heights, won a couple of Tonys, rhymes with Schmamilton? If you haven’t already had your fill of Lin-Manuel Miranda’s groundbreaking, record-shattering musical, good news: A documentary about the show is coming soon to PBS.

Hamilton’s America will cover the making of the musical that changed everything, from Miranda’s first performance of “Alexander Hamilton” at the White House to the phenomenon that now counts the Obamas, George W. Bush, Questlove, and Stephen Sondheim among its fans. But besides interviewing Hamilton’s famous supporters, the documentary will also explore the history behind the songs, including a trip where Miranda and Leslie Odom Jr. visit the Museum of Finance and brandish “authentic 19th-century dueling pistols.” Uh, that didn’t work out so well last time.

Hamilton’s America debuts on PBS Oct. 21.
