There’s a chill in the air and the fall television season is finally kicking off: new shows battling for our attention while old favorites return. At Sunday’s Emmy Awards, America will pause to remember television seasons past and celebrate the bountiful harvest HBO, FX, and AMC have brought us. Like the Byrds knew, the wisest words ever written about the changing seasons (and binge-worthy television shows) were written thousands of years ago, in the book of Ecclesiastes—specifically chapter nine, verse 10:
Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest.
