One of the highlights of the Video Music Awards was the premiere of Kanye West’s music video for “Fade,” off his album Life of Pablo. The video, which featured dancer Teyana Taylor shimmying around a dimly lit gym, went from mildly provocative to downright bizarre in its final shot, which will surely go down in history as one of the most shocking music video twist endings of all time.
As difficult as West’s artistic vision might be to grasp, Late Late Show host James Corden has some much more practical concerns about the gym in question, which seems to be not only unsafe and unsanitary, but populated by a lone (very rude) oiled-up dancer. And while he has no problems with “catface,” there are simply some lines you simply don’t cross while Corden is trying to work out.
