Daveed Diggs Goes From Broadway to the Milky Way in the Futuristic New Music Video for “Air ‘Em Out”

Daveed Diggs has traded in his 18th-century breeches for a spacesuit in the futuristic new music video for “Air ‘Em Out.” The video, which features Diggs rapping in what appears to be a spaceship as gravity starts to shift, is the latest from Clipping, the experimental hip-hop group made up of Diggs, William Hutson, and Jonathan Snipes.

“Air ‘Em Out” comes from Clipping’s upcoming album, Splendor and Misery, which the band’s page describes as “an Afrofuturist, dystopian concept album that follows the sole survivor of a slave uprising on an interstellar cargo ship, and the onboard computer that falls in love with him.” The album is their first since 2014; Diggs, fresh off his Broadway run and an appearance in Baz Luhrmann’s The Get Down, has returned to the group after a two-year hiatus to lend his silver tongue to the band’s signature electroacoustic sounds.

Splendor and Misery drops Sept. 9.
