Keegan-Michael Key and Taraji P. Henson Will Guest Star on The Simpsons’ First Hourlong Episode

Kent Brockman reports.

Fox

Fox is producing an hourlong episode of The Simpsons to air in January, Deadline reports. Keegan-Michael Key and Taraji P. Henson will guest-star in the episode, called “The Great Phatsby.”

The plot revolves around Mr. Burns getting scammed by a music producer and seeking revenge with the help of characters played by Key and Henson, so it’s not clear what the title has to do with the plot. There’s also a subplot involving Lisa “being courted by the richest kid in town,” which might be the connection. This will be the show’s 28th season, but its first hourlong episode. (Though it arguably had a one-hour, 27-minute episode back in 2007.)

Executive producer Al Jean expressed his hope that the episode “won’t be the last thing people see before a Trump inauguration,” following up on the show’s Hillary Clinton endorsement in late July. Good news, though: Should Trump win in November, there’ll be plenty of time to leave the country well before the hourlong Simpsons episode airs.
