Katy Perry Wrestles With a Pink Parachute in the New “Rise” Music Video, and It Really Looks Exhausting

Just in time for the opening ceremony of the Rio de Janeiro Olympics, Katy Perry has released a new music video for “Rise,” her empowerment anthem dedicated to the games. Perry’s video for “Rise” takes a very literal interpretation of the song, with Perry struggling to take off with a pink parachute that keeps getting tangled or caught in the wind. But despite nearly drowning, falling off a cliff, and being stranded in the desert, Perry does eventually—well, you know.

“Rise” was first released with a video featuring Olympians training for and competing in the most vigorous sports competition in the world. But frankly, Perry’s version looks far more exhausting and is sure to evoke flashbacks for anyone who’s had trouble wrangling a fitted sheet onto a bed.
