Colbert Toured the RNC in His Best “Hungry for Power Games” Segment Yet

After a snippet of Colbert’s Republican National Convention visit leaked online, Monday night’s Late Show unveiled its host’s full tour of the Quicken Loans Arena—a venue so big “it can almost hold Donald Trump’s entire head”—in a new, RNC-themed “Hungry for Power Games” segment.

Filming took place over the weekend, leaving Colbert (in performance as Hunger Games host Caesar Flickerman) free to roam around the arena before the chaos of the convention. His observations on the event’s preparations were both uproariously bleak—“The New Jersey delegation has saved one front row seat for Chris Christie to have the best possible view of the end of his career”—and coy, particularly as he feigned surprise at the presence of a Telemundo reporter at a Trump event. (“Did they let Telemundo in here?”)

It all built up to Colbert’s spectacular crashing of the podium, introducing the “Hungry for Power Games” before being chased offstage by security. But that won’t be all from the Late Show host: Colbert—along with his old colleague Jon Stewart—is set to present live convention specials through the rest of the week.
