Watch Michael J. Fox Play Guitar With Coldplay, Prove He Can Still Tear Through “Johnny B. Goode”

A throwback to 1985, or to 1955, depending on how you’re measuring it.

When Coldplay played Metlife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, for their Head Full of Dreams tour on Saturday, Chris Martin brought out a special guest you might just recognize from what he called “the best movie of all time.” (And he wasn’t talking about Teen Wolf.) Michael J. Fox joined the band onstage for an encore that recreated the actor’s iconic high-school dance scene from Back to the Future. The appearance came after a video request made by Martin’s son, who is also a fan of the film.

Fox and Coldplay performed both the Penguins’ “Earth Angel” and Chuck Berry’s “Johnny B. Goode.” It’s awesome to see that Fox, who in 1991 was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease, can still nail the guitar riff from the latter just as he did back when he was Marty McFly (or “Calvin Klein,” depending on who you ask).
