BoJack Horseman Is Back on Top and Struggling With Success in the First Season 3 Trailer

Season 1 of BoJack Horseman wrestled with whether its self-absorbed leading horse could be genuinely decent toward others. Season 2 explored the dark depths of depression and happiness. Now the trailer for Season 3 of Netflix’s anthropomorphic animated show is here, and after all this time as a washed up ’90s sitcom actor struggling to make it big, BoJack is now “a bona fide movie star” who might be up for an Oscar nod for his role in Secretariat.

Of course, he wouldn’t be BoJack without a healthy dose of existential ennui, and the trailer suggests there are even more big, philosophical questions in store: It appears that BoJack must now grapple with the return of success just as he once dwelled on failure. “What’s next for BoJack?” a reporter asks him. The celebrity equine voiced by Will Arnett responds, “Why does everything have to have a ‘next’?”

Fortunately for us, there is definitely a “next”: The new season premieres on Neftlix July 22.
