Ordinarily on Carpool Karaoke, James Corden is behind the wheel, both literally and figuratively, but when the Red Hot Chili Peppers joined him for a spin, Corden found himself instead at RHCP’s mercy. Anthony Kiedis, Flea, Chad Smith, and Josh Klinghoffer joined the Late Late Show host for his most popular segment, ostensibly to sing songs like “Californication” and “Under the Bridge.” But what happened in between the karaoke was much, much wilder. Kiedis challenged Corden to a wrestling match, which, incredibly, Corden accepted, pulling over the car to grapple with Kiedis on someone’s lawn. For all his bravado, Corden didn’t fare well and was quickly pinned, giggling all the while.
Things only got crazier from there. Corden teased the group that “I almost didn’t recognize you when you came out, because you had clothes on.” The band is known, of course, for going shirtless, but it was still a surprise when Kiedis started stripping down in the passenger’s seat. Flea and Corden soon followed (birthday) suit, leading to a lot of bared flesh as they belted “The Zephyr Song.”
As nutty a ride as it was, Corden had no complaints: “I always knew that this would be a fun part of my life, to be in a car with you. But I never expected it to be as much fun as it has been.” It was certainly fun to watch.
