HBO announced Tuesday that Larry David’s Curb Your Enthusiasm, the network’s longest-running scripted comedy or drama, will be returning. Curb Your Enthusiasm’s last original episode aired in 2011, and though there has been talk of reviving the show over the past five years—especially lately—HBO’s announcement still has a certain element of surprise.

David said of his return, “In the immortal words of Julius Caesar, ‘I left, I did nothing, I returned.’ ” That’s not entirely true: In the interim, the Seinfeld co-creator starred in his own Broadway show, Fish in the Dark, and had a successful stint hosting SNL—as a very familiar type of character, no less.

No dates or details have been given about the upcoming season, but for fans this is still pretty, pretty, pretty good news.
