Here’s Our First Look at Disney’s Moana, With Music by Lin-Manuel Miranda

Disney has released the very first teaser for Moana, and it’s absolutely stunning. This initial peek at the movie doesn’t give a lot away—presumably in future trailers we’ll see more of the film’s titular heroine, Disney’s first Polynesian princess, voiced by newcomer Auli’i Cravalho. What the trailer does give us are some spectacularly animated ocean vistas and a healthy dose of comic relief, most of it in the form of Dwayne Johnson, who voices the down-on-his-luck demigod Maui.

The film is the first mainly computer-animated project from Ron Clements and John Musker, the team behind The Little Mermaid and Hercules, and its score was composed by Mark Mancina, who worked on The Lion King and Tarzan, so there’s a lot of well-established Disney talent in the mix. Equally as exciting are the film’s other musical collaborators: Pacific musician Opetaia Foa’I and Lin-Manuel Miranda.. (Miranda’s Hamilton co-star, Phillipa Soo, recently joined the cast as well.)

Moana comes to theaters Nov. 24.
