The countdown begins.

Following coy remarks about his contract negotiations as the star of Hamilton—“I can tell you that with In the Heights, I did a year. I did a year and got out,” he recently told Rolling Stone—Lin-Manuel Miranda has set the date for his final performance, as first reported by the Hollywood Reporter: July 9.* (The other cast members are also currently negotiating their contracts, Miranda also told Rolling Stone.) The news of his impending departure should come as little surprise to fans and followers of the MacArthur Genius Award and Pulitzer Prize winner, who currently has a variety of other projects on his plate.

Earlier this week, it was confirmed that Miranda is set to play Jack to Emily Blunt’s Mary Poppins in Disney’s upcoming live-action sequel, Mary Poppins Returns.* (It will take place 20 years after the original’s storyline ended.) A cinematic adaptation of his first Broadway hit In the Heights has been acquired by the Weinstein, Co. And to top it off, the eagerly awaited Hamilton mixtape, featuring Chance the Rapper, Busta Rhymes, Sia, and others reinterpreting songs from the show, will arrive this fall.

And so, if you were hoping to catch Miranda in the role he wrote and originated, in the hottest show on Broadway, and you have hundreds—or possibly, even, thousands—of dollars to blow, now’s not the time to wait for it. You’ve only got a few weeks left.

Correction, June 2, 2016: This post originally misstated that Lin-Manuel Miranda himself made an official announcement about the date of his final show. He did not; The Hollywood Reporter reported the news after interviews with sources close to Miranda. In addition, Miranda will play Jack, not Bert, in Mary Poppins Returns.
