Explore 24’s Legacy With the New Trailer for Fox’s 24: Legacy

The clock will tick again this fall as Fox brings back their acclaimed series 24 with 24: Legacy. Corey Hawkins will take the lead role as a war hero clashing with terrorists, while Miranda Otto heads up CTU, the show’s counterterrorism agency. Kiefer Sutherland, who played Jack Bauer in the original series, will serve as a producer this time around. It promises to be as exciting as it was in the days after 9/11, when the original series provided the country with hours of harmless entertainment. So get psyched for the return of great television with an exciting “happening in real time” gimmick, and click play on the embedded trailer above!

Hang on. After clicking play, it seems like we’ve somehow accidentally embedded the trailer for Alex Gibney’s Academy Award–winning documentary Taxi to the Dark Side, about the way torture became normalized in U.S. culture and military policy. That has nothing to do with 24: Legacy! We regret the error. The actual trailer for Fox’s upcoming 24: Legacy can be seen by clicking here.

Wait, something’s gone wrong again—that seems to be a link to a page from torture memo author John Yoo’s 2006 book War by Other Means: An Insider’s Account of the War on Terror. Looks like he’s invoking a scenario from “popular Fox television program 24” to justify what he calls “harsh interrogation.” It’s not clear why anyone thought that would get people psyched for Fox’s hot fall season, anchored by 24: Legacy! Watch the show’s trailer by clicking here.

Oh jeez. It seems like that link goes to a New Yorker profile of 24 creator Joel Surnow, in which a former Army interrogator says, “People watch the shows, and then walk into the interrogation booths and do the same things they’ve just seen.” Just call me Mr. Butterfingers! Look: You clicked on this story to watch the trailer for Fox’s 24: Legacy, and we keep giving you links that have nothing to do with the legacy of 24. Maybe this is what you’re looking for?

Hold on, we’re getting word that that link actually goes to a news story about former Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia talking about 24 protagonist Jack Bauer as though he were a real person who really saved Los Angeles by really torturing people. The controls aren’t responding! It’s one of those Westworld-type-situations! Send help! Anyway, here’s the trailer:

We can’t wait until fall, when, as 24: Legacy reminds us, the clock resets.
