Beyoncé Pays Tribute to Prince With a Stunning Cover of “The Beautiful Ones”

Two weeks ago, Beyoncé opened her Formation World Tour by saluting Prince with a “Purple Rain” singalong and a cover of one of the many songs that Prince wrote for Vanity 6. But her tributes to the late pop singer didn’t end there: Queen Bey honored His Royal Badness yet again during a concert in Dallas over the weekend, this time with a gorgeous cover of “The Beautiful Ones.”

Beyoncé had previously covered the powerful Purple Rain ballad at the Glastonbury Festival in 2011 in a mashup with Kings of Leon’s “Sex on Fire.” Her Dallas performance was far more intimate, with Beyoncé alone onstage, under a single spotlight, bringing tremendous emotion to Prince’s tale of unrequited love—a poignant choice in the wake of Lemonade, and a worthy tribute.
