Watch Axl Rose Join AC/DC Onstage for the First Time, Make ’80s Rock Fan Fic Come to Life

A whole lot of hard rock synergy.

When AC/DC announced that lead singer Brian Johnson would retire from live performance to prevent further hearing loss and that Guns N’ Roses leader Axl Rose would handle vocals for the remaining dates on the band’s Rock or Bust World Tour, many wondered how those iconic forces would mesh on one stage. We got a preview of their hard rock synergy at Coachella, when AC/DC guitarist Angus Young joined Guns N’ Roses to play the AC/DC songs “Whole Lotta Rosie” and “Riff Raff.”

Of course, Guns N’ Roses with Angus Young was just a teaser for AC/DC with Axl Rose, and we now have our first extended look at the main event. The band played its premiere show with Rose on Saturday night in Lisbon, Portugal’s Passeio Marítimo de Algés, ripping through a 22-song set list that included such hits as “Shoot to Thrill,” “Back in Black,” “You Shook Me All Night Long,” and “Highway to Hell.”
