This past weekend, Saturday Night Live joined the stream of tributes and odes to Prince by airing an episode dedicated to the artist called “Goodnight, Sweet Prince.” The hourlong special, which featured all of Prince’s SNL musical guest spots as well as sketches inspired by him, also included footage of Prince’s impromptu performance of “Let’s Go Crazy” at the afterparty for SNL 40 in February 2015.
During what appears to be the single best party in history, a parade of SNL cast members, musicians, and celebrities can be seen on stage singing and dancing along with Prince, including Jimmy Fallon, Chris Rock, Bill Murray, and Maya Rudolph. Fallon explains that he casually invited Prince to come up and perform—and perform he did, commanding the stage as only Prince could.
