Matt Damon and Paul Greengrass Are Back in the First Full Trailer for Jason Bourne

Matt Damon’s homecoming as ex-CIA assassin Jason Bourne was teased during this year’s Super Bowl, but now the first full trailer is here. The trailer for fifth Bourne movie—which also marks the return of Paul Greengrass, the filmmaker behind the two most acclaimed Bourne installments—offers more of the Bourne essentials: fistfights, car chases, and shots of Matt Damon peeking out from behind crosshairs. It also expands on the film’s plot, which is a familiar one for the Bourne universe: The supersoldier is on the run from the CIA, this time after a hack that “could be worse than Snowden.” Julia Stiles reprises her role as Nicky Parsons, while Tommy Lee Jones joins the cast to once again make use of his beloved, Oscar-winning skills at playing a frustrated bureacrat chasing after a wily fugitive. (In this case he’s the director of the CIA.)

Damon had promised not to return to the Bourne franchise unless director Greengrass, with whom he worked on The Bourne Supremacy and Ultimatum, was at the helm and even told told Colider in 2007 that he could see no way to bring back the character now that Bourne has solved his identity crisis. Since the Jason Bourne trailer opens with Damon insisting, “I remember everything” over flashbacks to the first three films in the franchise, it seems that Jason Bourne will not involve another bout of amnesia after Bourne has been “bonked on the head.”
