We don’t know much about Radiohead’s next release, but we now know this: Paul Thomas Anderson has made a video for it. According to author-comedian Stefanie Wilder-Taylor, the Boogie Nights and There Will Be Blood filmmaker shot portions of it in her Los Angeles home. She told the story on a since-deleted episode of her For Crying Out Loud podcast:

Oh, this happened, I forgot to tell you! So, I’m at home and there’s a knock at the door. … There’s a guy with a clipboard. I come to the door with a scowl on my face and the guy says, “Hey, we’re in the neighborhood—we’re going to be shooting a music video.” So now, I’m thinking you’re basically telling me—what happens a lot in my neighborhood, because it’s a very typical suburban-looking neighborhood—I’m gonna be inconvenienced. … Then the guy goes, “It’s Radiohead!” … Here’s the cool part: Then, the next day, the guy goes, “I wanna bring the director by your house.” … This guy comes in, [and] says “Hey, this is the director, Paul.” Really normal-looking guy. Then I say, “Hey, you look kind of familiar. Have we met? Do you make anything apart from music videos?”

When Anderson told Wilder-Taylor that he had, in fact, made There Will Be Blood, she replied with an appropriate “Oh shit!” Radiohead fans, however, should be a bit less shocked. After all, Anderson and Radiohead multi-instrumentalist Jonny Greenwood have enjoyed a fruitful artistic partnership over the past decade, with Greenwood scoring Anderson’s There Will Be Blood, The Master, Inherent Vice, and Junun. It seems only natural that Anderson would eventually return the favor. And though it’s unclear when the results of the collaboration will surface, Radiohead fans have good reason for excitement: Between an upcoming tour and now an upcoming video, it looks like the jigsaw is falling into place
