The New Trailer for Game of Thrones Season 6 Makes One Thing Clear: There’s Going to Be a Lot of War

There are plenty of reasons to be excited about Game of Thrones’ sixth season, and the most recent trailer taps into all of them. On top of continuing to taunt us with a dead-looking Snow, the trailer drops several hints at what’s ahead for Cersei and Jaime Lannister, Arya and Sansa Stark, and more. All of this comes amid quick shots of other beloved characters in the throes of varying degrees of peril and ambiguity—with the swelling sound of chanting in the background as everyone appears to be preparing for war.

This season, we will see Cersei and Jaime looking very ready for revenge on their enemies—including the High Sparrow. Meanwhile, Jaqen H’ghar gives Arya a chance to redeem herself as a capable assassin and follower of the Many-Faced God, telling her that she’s been given a second chance—and that “there will not be a third.” And there’s Sansa, who angrily contemplates “what was taken from [her],” and appears ready to wage war against anyone and everyone who’s hurt her. And then, there are the dragons—one of which makes a fiery appearance at the end of the trailer. The new season lands on HBO April 24.
