Performing rights organization Broadcast Music, Inc. is holding its 64th annual BMI Pop Awards next month, and there’s a new award this time around. For the first time ever, the BMI will present the Taylor Swift Award, according to their press release. And the night’s big winner? Pop singer Taylor Swift! As BMI Vice President of Writer/Public Relations Barbara Cane explained, the choice was easy:

Taylor Swift has transformed pop culture through her songs, artistry and indomitable spirit. She has had a profound impact, not only musically, but also through her personal conviction and commitment to create a standard that values and respects music for everyone. We felt it appropriate to award Taylor with an honor that is as unique and special as she is.

It’s the second named award the organization has given since 1990’s Michael Jackson Award. The First Annual Taylor Swift Award for Achievement in the Field of Being Taylor Swift will be given at a private ceremony at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel on May 10, at which point the audience may be treated to Kanye West’s opinion as to who is the best Taylor Swift of all time.
