On Thursday night, Carnegie Hall hosted a star-studded concert it called “The Music of David Bowie,” a benefit for music education programs serving underprivileged youth. The show was announced in January, just hours before the news of Bowie’s death turned it into a memorial, to the shock of fans and the organizers alike. (A second show was subsequently added. The 20-song set included performances from Cyndi Lauper, Debbie Harry, Michael Stipe, Ann Wilson, Cat Power, J Mascis, Pixies, the Flaming Lips, the Mountain Goats, and more. (But not the Roots.) And though Carnegie Hall can only hold so many concertgoers—far fewer than would’ve liked to attend—Bowie fans everywhere can experience (or re-experience) the night through the fan-shot videos below.
