Renée Zellweger Returns to Her Most Charming Role in the Trailer for Bridget Jones’s Baby

Just as My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2 heads into theaters this week, Universal has released the trailer for another sequel that’s been over a decade in the making: Bridget Jones’s Baby. Renée Zellweger is back as the titular hapless heroine, and Colin Firth returns as her on-again, off-again flame, Mark Darcy. Like the 2004 sequel Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason, this film finds Darcy in competition with another man for Jones’ affections—but this time, his rival suitor will be played by Patrick Dempsey instead of Hugh Grant. Let the romance begin!

It appears Jones is in a bit of a pickle here: She’s pregnant, but she’s not sure by which man. And then there’s the question, regardless whose baby it is, of who Jones should end up with. Apparently even the actors don’t know how the movie will end, as they filmed three different outcomes. But with suitors like this, whichever way it goes, a happy ending seems inevitable. We’ll find out when the movie hits theaters Sept. 18. (For what it’s worth, we should all remember that Dempsey can play an extremely gracious loser.)
