Anyone who’s tuned in to Saturday Night Live lately knows that Jay Pharoah can deliver an impeccable Ben Carson impression, but his gift for mimicry certainly doesn’t end with the erstwhile GOP hopeful. On Saturday’s SNL, Pharoah took his virtuosity to new levels by channeling just about every superstar black comedian in three minutes while acting out a conversation between all of them.
Pharoah’s bit came during Weekend Update, when co-host Colin Jost asked him to imagine how a group of black comedians supposedly gathered to settle the recent beef between Katt Williams and Kevin Hart. “The black comedians meeting? Oh yeah, we hold one every year at Eddie Murphy’s house,” Pharoah said. Pharoah started with Williams and Hart, but quickly slipped into spot-on impersonations of everyone from Dave Chappelle to Chris Rock to Tracy Morgan. Some of the impressions are, of course, better than others, but just wait till you hear his Eddie Murphy.
