Few movie-going thrills can match a well-executed plot twist. Plenty of movies try and fail to pull them off, but over the years we’ve also had plenty of movies get it right—and now, CineFix has dedicated one of its typically nuanced lists to rounding up the 10 best examples of all time.
Decades of cinema are represented on this countdown—from Alfred Hitchcock to, yes, George Lucas, and beyond. M. Night Shyamalan didn’t snag any of the top spots, but did grab a shout-out or two—to the assured relief for some and shock for others. Perhaps the most surprising choice on this list, however, takes us somewhere over the rainbow—an election for which the argument is just as fascinating as the choice itself.
