Game of Thrones loves to remind us that the night is dark and full of terrors.* So too, apparently, is the 2016 presidential election cycle, and a new video titled Game of Thrones: Winter is Trumping makes the similarities eerily undeniable. The mashup edits together various Game of Thrones clips, with one conspicuous addition: In each scene, video of Donald Trump’s literal talking head is superimposed onto a different character’s body.
The presidential candidate makes appearances across Essos and Westeros, spouting his Trumpisms: Outside the gates of Qarth, denying entry and nourishment to Daenerys Targaryen and her starving khalasar (“We have a tremendous problem, and we can’t be the stupid country anymore”), in the chamber of the small council, boring a captive audience with boasts regarding his fans and his personal qualities (“Donald Trump is a very nice person”). It’s amazing, though perhaps unsurprising, how seamlessly his words fit within the show’s bleak and brutal storylines.
