Everyone has that one weird friend from college who somehow gets invited to all your big life milestones. In Seth Meyers’ case, it appears to be a fellow alum from Northwesteros. In this Late Night sketch, Game of Thrones’ Melisandre shows up at Meyers’ baby shower—and, as usual, behaves like a total weirdo. (Also, actress Carise van Houten shows off a very impressive deadpan.)
When she’s not warning everyone, repeatedly, that the night is dark and full of terrors, Melisandre tells “fun” anecdotes, like that time she gave birth to a shadow demon that assassinated Renly Baratheon. (“I guess you had to be there.”) She might have complained to Meyers that she doesn’t have any female friends, but from Melisandre’s withering gaze, it’s pretty clear that in the end, she’s no more interested in being friends with these normal women than vice versa.
