The latest teaser for Game of Thrones’ upcoming sixth season takes us into the Hall of Faces, where the ghosts of a few of our most dearly departed (and Joffrey) echo things they’d said in life. As we pan across a wall of whispering masks, the final ominous utterance comes from Jon Snow, whose demise at the end of Season 5 is the subject of continued discussion: “The long night is coming, and the dead come with it.”
Then things take an even creepier turn as we peer at faces of the still-living, including Sansa Stark, Daenerys Targaryen, and Tyrion Lannister among others. If anything, this suggests that the credo of those who follow the Many-Faced God might also be the show’s endgame, as many of us fear: All men must die.
