Tina Fey Returned to SNL as Right Wingin’, Bitter Clingin’ Sarah Palin

In a sketch that was inevitable the moment Sarah Palin made her rambling, rhetorically suspect return to the campaign trail, SNL opened its latest episode by having Tina Fey reprise her famed impression of the Alaskan.

As usual, Fey does uncanny work aping Palin’s word salad, recreating the internal rhymes and mixed metaphors and loony Beat polemic with ease. It should be said, though, that Palin is somewhat parody-proof: There’s virtually no difference between Fey’s caricature and the politician’s actual persona. Like Trump, the former governor’s always one step ahead of the satire.
