Seth Meyers’ Boston Accent Is the Boston Movie to End All Boston Movies

For decades, our finest, most versatile actors have tried and failed to fake a decent Boston accent, its minute inflections and obscure argot seemingly impossible to recreate on screen.

Of course, once in a blue moon—The Departed, Good Will Hunting—we get a movie that does supply a perfect stream of low vowels and intrusive r’s. The latest is Boston Accent, a parody production that sees Seth Meyers try to riff on every possible Boston movie trope—the countless local references; the themes of loyalty and violence and corruption; the shots of Fenway Park—at once. It is, unequivocally, “the movie with the most Boston accents this year.”
