Tracy Morgan, who’s been baby-stepping his way back into the comedy scene since a devastating car accident in 2014, is finally making a sustained return to TV: FX announced Saturday that the comic will develop and star in a new comedy pilot for the channel. The show is still untitled, but it will be co-written by Jordan Peele (Key & Peele) and John Carcieri (Eastbound & Down).

Morgan will play a “career criminal” whose release from prison results in a slow, awkward acclimation to a brave new world of “political correctness, internet, and self-driving cars.” It’s not the most novel premise, but it’s easy to imagine Morgan’s ace timing and bold, almost theatrical physicality mining fresh humor from old tropes.
