Mulder and Scully Reunite on Kimmel, Have No Idea What to Make of Smartphones

As the X-Files revival draws near, one question has haunted every superfan’s nightmares: Will it be a huge let-down? Luckily, Jimmy Kimmel has given us a taste of what we can expect from the new show—with him as a guest star, of course. David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson reunite in this nostalgia-baiting sketch, in which Kimmel plays their guide through modernity, Agent Keith.

It’s hard to decide which is funnier—the terrible “Mulder” and “Scully” wigs our two favorite agents wear, or the extremely dated technology they’re apparently still using. This sketch does two big favors for X-Files fans. First, Kimmel assuages our anxiety surrounding the revival: “Even if coming back turns out to be a bad idea,” he tells Scully, “like a really, really bad idea that makes everyone hate you, we’ll still always have the 90s.” Then, he gives voice to every X-Files shipper’s fondest wish and asks them to just have sex already.
