Jeff Buckley’s Cover of “Just Like a Woman” Is a Sublime Spin on a Classic

Last November, we featured Jeff Buckley’s cover of Sly and the Family Stone’s “Everyday People,” which will be featured on You and I, a collection of 10 unheard studio recordings Buckley made before his death at 30.

Now we have another peek at the album: This haunting cover of Bob Dylan’s “Just Like a Woman,” which pairs Buckley’s vocal wizardry—the rolling vibrato; the liquid, Qawwali-influenced delivery; the swoops into falsetto—with some tender, minor-tone guitar work. Few can bring something new to a Dylan tune, but Buckley does that and more. You and I is out March 11.
