Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee

As his second term winds down, President Barack Obama has done things no president has done before—namely, sit for an interview on Marc Maron’s WTF podcast and appear on Running Wild With Bear Grylls. This week, Obama accomplished another presidential first by guesting on Jerry Seinfeld’s Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee. The resulting interview is pretty delightful, even though the kaffeeklatsch takes place in the White House staff break room rather than a real-world coffee shop. (The Secret Service wouldn’t allow Seinfeld’s 1963 Corvette to leave the White House premises with the president in tow.)

Seinfeld, who says that Obama “has gotten off just enough funny lines to qualify for getting on this show,” throws the Commander in Chief a series of softball questions about his morning routine (he shaves before working out), his favorite snack (nachos), and whether he curses (he does). Obama’s answers display his gifts for comedic timing and good-natured ribbing, particularly when Seinfeld asks, “What’s your most embarrassing president moment?” Obama pauses a second, then deadpans, “This may be it.” Watch the full episode on the Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee website.
