Watch Tina Fey Play a War Correspondent in the First Trailer for Whiskey Tango Foxtrot

Tina Fey is off to war—on screen, at least. In the first trailer for Whiskey Tango Foxtrot—the phonetic alphabet version of “WTF”—Kim Barker (Fey) and Tanya Vanderpoel (Margot Robbie) are entrenched in Kabul as foreign correspondents during the War in Afghanistan in the early 2000s. Fey’s character runs from explosions, learns how to fire an automatic, and fends off her fellow male journalists (or doesn’t, as the case may be).

The dramedy is based on Barker’s 2011 memoir, The Taliban Shuffle: Strange Days in Afghanistan and Pakistan, which the New York Times’  Michiko Kakutani called “hilarious and harrowing, witty and illuminating, all at the same time.” The movie marks a change of pace for Fey, who’s currently in theaters in the comedy Sisters. “For me to get to do a movie where I fly in helicopters and shoot guns and run from explosions, that’s a treat,” Fey told USA Today. “I don’t get to do any of those things on a daily basis.” Most of the movie was shot in New Mexico as opposed to the Middle East, but Fey did get to fly in a real Air Force Huey helicopter, according to USA Today. Whiskey Tango Foxtrot is out on March 4.
