This Mashup Proves That Britney Spears and Twin Peaks’ Theme Song Were Made for Each Other

On the surface, Britney Spears and Twin Peaks might not appear to share much in common. The former made her name as a bubbly teen pop star, while the latter has always enjoyed a foggier aesthetic and (only slightly) more cult-like following. But the two pair together much better than one might expect, perhaps because they both offered a peek into the darker side of teen glamor. This mashup from Conrad Tao deftly combines Spears’ forlorn 2003 hit “Everytime” with Twin Peaks’ synth-dirge of a theme song. The haunting, ethereal result will lead you to a place both wonderful and strange—where it will be no easier to wait for the return of Twin Peaks in 2017.
