The Newest Dog in Wes Anderson’s Dog Movie: a Bill Murray Dog

“Dog movie?” “Dog movie.”

We’ve known since October that noted dog-hater Wes Anderson is making an animated stop-motion movie about dogs. It was only a matter of time, therefore, before Bill Murray, one of the director’s regulars, announced he would join the cast of the film—as a dog.

Although details about the film are sparse, Murray called it “another stop-motion animated comedy, sort of like Fantastic Mr. Fox.” He went on, “It’s a Japanese story, and I’m playing a dog. I’m very excited.” Murray joins an existing cast of Anderson regulars including Jeff Goldblum, Bob Balaban, Edward Norton, and newcomer Bryan Cranston. One can only hope their respective animated canines will avoid a grisly end.
