When we last saw Derek Zoolander (Ben Stiller) earlier this year in a silly, tantalizing teaser, he was contemplating the existence of God. Now that we’re just a few months away from the much-anticipated Zoolander 2, fans finally have a better look at what the male model and his one-time rival, Hansel (Owen Wilson), are up to with the arrival of the first full trailer. Fifteen years later, it seems, they’re going through yet another existential crisis.
Not much has changed—they’re still incredibly vain, incredibly dim, and ridiculously good-looking. They’ve also got a new crime to solve: Someone has been going around killing the world’s most beautiful people, and they must help an Interpol agent (Penélope Cruz) take the mysterious person down. As with the original Zoolander, the trailer promises lots of famous faces, including Justin Bieber and Benedict Cumberbatch; a barely recognizable Kristen Wiig appears caked in tons of makeup and a crazy getup, while spouting a quasi-Euro accent. And of course, Will Ferrell as the villainous Mugatu is back, looking as zany as ever.*
