The original Star Wars is the most sacred of all the Star Wars movies. It was the first, the most beloved, and the most groundbreaking, and therefore it forever holds prime place in the hearts of those who grew up loving the series. But, on the eve of the Star Wars revival, that didn’t stop Screen Junkies from trying to tear off our nostalgia goggles and show us some of the weaker aspects of this sacred cow.
And boy are there weaknesses. In their latest Honest Trailer, the folks from Screen Junkies poke fun at Darth Vader and Obi Wan Kenobi’s geriatric lightsaber battles, compare Luke’s whining to Anakin’s in the prequels (maybe it runs in the family), and point out that the entire Death Star attack scene finale is basically one long and very Freudian that’s-what-she-said joke: “Look at the size of that thing,” “It came from behind,” “Luke, at that speed will you be able to pull out in time?” etc. Just one more reason not to set your expectations too high for The Force Awakens.
