SNL opened this week with one of its more sober moments in recent memory: a brief, moving message of support from a dewy-eyed Cecily Strong to a grieving Paris, a day after terrorist attacks ravaged the city. Strong recited the message twice, once in English and once in French, before segueing into her “Live from New York …” line:
