Watch the First, Tim Burton-less Trailer for Alice Through the Looking Glass

In Alice Through the Looking Glass, “saving the hatter is only a matter of time.” The hatter here is, of course, Johnny Depp, who will once again don the makeup and wig to play Alice’s (Mia Wasikowska’s) mischievous Wonderland companion, the Mad Hatter. The sequel will not be directed by Tim Burton, but instead by James Bobin (The Muppets, Muppets Most Wanted).

In the first trailer for the upcoming movie, it looks like Depp’s Mad Hatter is in some trouble—and to save him, Alice will have to return to Underland (Wonderland) and face off against time itself. Or, apparently, himself—Time will be played by Sacha Baron Cohen. All of the familiar faces are back—Alan Rickman’s voice opens the trailer as the Blue Caterpillar. The Cheshire Cat, Tweedledee and Tweedledum, the March Hare, the White Rabbit, and Anne Hathaway’s White Queen all make appearances. And, of course, Helena Bonham Carter is back as the Red Queen. The movie is due out May 27.
