The Dixie Chicks Turned Lana Del Rey’s “Video Games” Into a Country Love Song

Each year, Neil Young hosts a charity concert for the Bridge School, a non-profit that helps children with severe speech and physical disabilities. The event regularly draws big acts—last year saw Chris Cornell perform with Pearl Jam—and this time around the highlight was the Dixie Chicks’ twangy, triumphant cover of Lana Del Rey’s “Video Games.”

As Noisey notes, the song is strangely well suited for the country treatment: Lana’s lyrics brim with talk of old bars, playing pool, and beers in the backyard. This rendition merely brings that folksiness to the foreground, but its so confident and fully realized you forget for a moment that there’s another version.
