This Supercut of Lightsaber Duels Is Nearly as Glee-Inducing as the New Star Wars Trailer

Monday marked the arrival of another Star Wars trailer—by the way, there’s a new Star Wars movie coming out in December—and the Internet proceeded to get drunk off nostalgia, John Williams’ music, and almost three minutes of fresh material to parse frame by frame. That buzz is only just wearing off, but the Daily Beast’s supercut of lightsaber duels makes for a pretty smooth chaser.

After all, besides Williams’ score, the Star Wars sound most deeply embedded in the social psyche is the warm, neon hum of a lightsaber’s ignition—an effect designer Ben Burtt achieved by combining the drone of movie projector motors with the crackle of TV signal interference.
