Travel Back to the Future Again and Again With The Latest Honest Trailer

As anyone who’s spent time on the Internet has probably noticed, today, Oct. 21, 2015, is Back to the Future Day—the date Marty McFly arrived in the future in Back to the Future Part II. Today, we bask in all the things the franchise got right about 2015 (although that might be missing the point). We mourn the unfulfilled promise of hoverboard ubiquity. We ask, “Who was Scott, anyway?” And we point out how repetitive the franchise is—at least, that’s what the folks over at Screen Junkies have done in their latest Honest Trailer.

“Journey to Hill Valley,” the trailers’ stalwart narrator says, “a place where the gene pool is so shallow that everyone’s ancestor looks exactly the same as their descendants.” That’s the least of Back to the Future’s problems, though—a much bigger one is that the series kept recycling the same formula: “Travel to the past, beat up the bully, fix the future, and set up the sequel.” At least we’ll always have the legit musician cameos.
