Empire returns Wednesday for Season 2—which means, of course, that aside from the backstabbing, bribery, bed hopping, and occasional acts of murder, there will also be plenty of time spent in the recording studio where the Lyon family lays down hot new tracks. There is where the magic is made, where the music comes together, and the producer gets hyped. Like, really hyped. You’ve seen this before: in everything from Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story to Ray to the real-life Timbaland going crazy when he plays the beat for “Dirt Off Your Shoulder” for Jay Z for the first time in Fade to Black.

In honor of Empire and its indulgence of this grand tradition, we’ve collected some of our favorite “producers get hyped in the studio” moments from movies and TV. It’s fire!
