In what is possibly the best casting news of the season, Ice Cube has been tapped to play Ebenezer Scrooge, or some version of him, in a forthcoming remake of A Christmas Carol. The movie is called Humbug, and Deadline reports that Cube will play a modern real estate mogul shown the path to goodness by the ghosts of Christmas past, present, and future.

The role is tailor-made for the rapper, who’s spent his acting career playing every possible sort of crank, curmudgeon, and misanthrope. Also relevant: Cube’s trademark scowl, maybe the Scroogiest expression in cinema. Humbug has no set release date—2017 seems like a safe bet—but the director will be Tim Story, who previously teamed up with the rapper for Barbershop and Ride Along.
